5.3.3 Real Time Clock

Cortex®-M3 DesignStart™ Eval includes a Real Time Clock (RTC) module. This is necessary for the correct operation of the mbed™ operating system.

The RTC value is retained on the MPS2+ platform during power down by an on-board battery and the Motherboard Configuration Controller (MCC).

During the start-up sequence, the MCC initializes the FPGA RTC module with the correct time.

If an RTC is required on the new platform, then a mechanism to initialize the FPGA RTC value after initial configuration is required.
