8.12 Shutting down a Unix/Linux server

Use the command-line utility to stop a Unix/Linux floating license server.

To stop a Unix/Linux floating license server:

Prerequisites

Avoid using kill -9 to terminate the floating license server daemons because the processes might not end gracefully. This might cause problems on server restart. If you must forcibly shut down a server, always stop lmgrd before armlmd.

Procedure

  1. Change to the directory containing the floating license server software.
  2. At the command prompt, enter:
    lmutil lmdown -q -c license_file_name

    where:

    license_file_name

Specifies the fully qualified path name of the license file that you used when you started the server.
