2.2. eXDI2RVI driver installation and setup

This section describes how to install and set up the eXDI2RVI driver.

Windows Workstation platform requirements

The eXDI2RVI driver is intended for use on a Windows Workstation that is running Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2, or later).

Installing the eXDI2RVI driver

To install the eXDI2RVI driver:

  1. Select a directory of your choice which is to be used to contain eXDI2RVI driver and its associated files. For example, C:\exdi_drivers

  2. Unzip the package exdi2rvi.zip into your selected directory.

  3. Register the eXDI2RVI driver. To do this, run the register.bat file, and verify from the resulting dialog that the eXDI2RVI driver is correctly registered.

  4. Set the following system environment variables:

    • RVCONFIG_INSTALL

      This should point to the rvconfig.exe location on your PC. If the RealView ICE is installed in its default location, the value of this environment variable could be C:\Program Files\ARM\RVI\RVConfig\...\...\win_32-pentium

    • EXDI2RVI_INSTALL

      This should point to the location where exdi2rvi.dll and other supporting files are present. For example, C:\exdi_drivers\exdi2rvi

  5. Download and install the latest Windows CE or Windows Embedded CE update from the Microsoft website.

Additional steps

To uninstall the eXDI2RVI driver:

  1. Close Platform Builder.

  2. Run the unregister.bat file.

Note

After executing the unregister.bat file, before you again run the register.bat file (to install the eXDI2RVI driver) you must open Platform Builder and then close it.

Note

You only have to execute the register.bat file once for each Platform Builder session.
