This section gives basic information on using the IDE Preferences window to configure preferences for all your CodeWarrior IDE projects.
To open the IDE Preferences window and select preferences:
Select Preferences… from the Edit menu. The CodeWarrior IDE displays the IDE Preferences window with a hierarchical list of available panels on the left side of the window. Figure 9.1 shows an example.
Select the configuration panel you want to configure from the list. You can use the arrow keys or click the name of the panel.
Each configuration panel contains related options that you can set. The options you select apply to all CodeWarrior IDE projects.
Select the options you require. See the following sections in this chapter for detailed descriptions of the options in each configuration panel.
Apply or cancel your changes, as required. See Saving or discarding changes for more information on applying the changes you have made.
You can use the dialog box buttons in the IDE Preferences window to apply or discard your changes (see Figure 9.1):
Click this button to save any changes that you have made and close the IDE Preferences window.
Click this button to close the window without saving any changes you have made.
Click this button to commit any changes you have made in any of the panels. If you have changed an option that requires you to recompile the project, the CodeWarrior IDE displays a confirmation dialog box. Click OK or Cancel depending on whether you want to keep your changes or not.
Click this button to reset the current panel to the settings that the CodeWarrior IDE uses as defaults. Settings in other panels are not affected. Only the settings for the current panel are reset.
Click this button to reset the state of the current panel to its last-saved settings. This is useful if you start making changes to a configuration panel and then decide not to use them.
Click this button if you want to export the current settings for a panel to XML format. Enter the name of the file to which you want to export the settings and click the Save button. You can then import these settings at any time.
Click this button if you want to import an XML settings file created by using the Export Panel... option. Select the file you want to import and click Open to import the settings.
The Import Panel... and Export Panel... options are useful if you want to copy all the settings for a configuration panel to the same panel in another target. If you only want to copy some panel settings, for example, the settings for one tab in a panel, you must edit the panel manually.
If you make changes in the IDE Preferences window and attempt to close it, the CodeWarrior IDE displays a preferences confirmation dialog box (Figure 9.2).
Click:
Save to save your changes and close the dialog box.
Don’t Save to discard your changes and close the dialog box.
Cancel to continue using the IDE Preferences window without saving changes.
