7.3.1. Using the -inc command-line option

RealView Debugger supports its own command-line options, that are accessible using the Target text field of the Windows shortcut Properties dialog, or from the Sun Solaris, Red Hat Linux, or Windows shell. These CLI options include -inc, that identifies the batch file to run on startup, and -b, that runs the debugger in batch mode.

Note

You must specify the install location using the -install option if the debugger is not in the default directory specified in the environment variable RVDEBUG_INSTALL.

To use -inc:

1. Construct a script file for your session:

• Use a text editor to create the script file.

• Use the JOURNAL command in a debugging session to log commands to a file.

2. If the debugger is running, then exit the debugger.

3. Use a Windows shortcut, or a command shell, to run the debugger in one of the following ways:

• with the -b option, to execute the commands in the file in batch mode and then exit the debugger, for example:

rvdebug -install="installdir" -b -inc="\path\to\file.txt"

Note

Do not use -b without -inc.

• with the -cmd option, to execute the commands in the file and then leave the debugger running ready to continue the debugging session in command-line mode

• without the -b and -cmd options, to execute the commands in the file and then leave the debugger running ready to continue the debugging session in GUI mode.

The CLI startup options are explained in the chapter that describes starting to use RealView Debugger in RealView Debugger v1.8 User Guide.
