To create a new connection you can copy an existing connection entry in the Connection Properties window, or create a new connection entry that has default settings.
Note
If you copy a connection entry, certain configuration details are not updated until you close the Connection Properties window. This might mean that some asterisks are not immediately visible in the copy.
This example creates a new CEVA-Oak DSP connection using Multi-ICE
direct connect. It assumes that a correctly configured .jtg file
exists for the new target and this has been saved in the default
settings directory \etc.
Note
RealView Debugger DSP support is separately licensed. You must obtain a license from your ARM distributor to use this feature and connect to the new target.
To create a new connection entry for a CEVA-Oak DSP using Multi-ICE direct connect:
Select Target ? Connection Properties... to display the Connection Properties window.
Right-click on the
...\rvdebug.brdentry, in the left pane.Select Make New Group... from the context menu.
This displays the Group Type/Name selector dialog box, shown in Figure 5.18.
Leave the type of the new entry unchanged as
CONNECTION, but replace the default namenewwith a meaningful name for the new entry, for exampleNew_OAK_DSP.This can be a descriptive name or the name of the new
.jtgfile that you are going to select, but without the.jtgextension.Click OK to confirm your settings and to close the Group Type/Name selector dialog box.
The new entry appears in the left pane of the Connection Properties window. It is automatically selected, and its details are displayed in the right pane. These details are the default for a new
CONNECTIONand you must change at least theConnect_with/Manufacturer, theConfigurationfilename and targetDescription.In the right pane of the Connection Properties window, right-click on the
Configurationentry and select Edit as Filename from the context menu.The Enter New Filename dialog box is displayed to enable you to locate the required
.jtgfile, for example\etc\New_OAK_DSP.jtg.Click Save to confirm your entries and to close the Enter New Filename dialog box.
The new pathname is displayed in the right pane.
In the right pane of the Connection Properties window, right-click on the
Descriptionfield, and select Edit Value from the context menu.Type
New_Oak_DSPin the entry area and press Enter.This is the description displayed in the Connection Control window and Connection Properties window to identify the new target.
In the right pane of the Connection Properties window, right-click on the
Connect_withentry and select Explore from the context menu.In the right pane of the Connection Properties window, right-click on the
Manufacturerentry and select the required connection type from the context menu, for example ARM-ARM-HP.If you do not specify this setting, the new connection appears in the Connection Control window but, when you try to connect, RealView Debugger prompts for the connection type.
Select File ? Save and Close to save your changes and close the Connection Properties window.
Your new target is now displayed in the Connection Control window.
