| Home > Introduction > About connection configuration > Connect to Target window | |||
The Connect to Target window displays:
a list of the Debug Interfaces that are currently installed
the Debug Configurations that you have created for each Debug Interface
the targets within each Debug Configuration to which you can connect.
Figure 1.2 shows an example Connect to Target window with RealView ICE installed.
There are two groupings available for viewing the connections:
The Target grouping
shows all target connections as a list for each Debug Interface.
The Debug Configuration name to which each target is associated
is listed in the Configuration column, shown
in Figure 1.2.
The Configuration grouping shows the target connections grouped by the related Debug Configuration. You are recommended to use this grouping when you add, copy, rename, customize, or delete a Debug Configuration. Figure 1.1 shows an example of this grouping.
You can use the Connect to Target window to:
Establish connections to the targets in your development platform, either individually or in a single operation.
Add Debug Configurations and customize them to define specific debugging environments for your specific requirements. For example, you might have one Debug Configuration that you use for OS-awareness debugging, and another for basic debugging. The remainder of this document describes how to add and customize Debug Configurations.
The Debug Interfaces available to you depend on what you have installed.
The following Debug Interfaces are provided as installation options with RealView Development Suite (RVDS):
RealView Instruction Set Simulator (RVISS),
which is always installed
Instruction Set System Model (ISSM),
which is an installation option
ARM Ltd. Direct Connection for
the Versatile Platform for ARM926EJ-S™ (USB port),
which is an installation option (you must purchase the hardware separately).
The following Debug Interfaces are also available if you have purchased and installed the related products:
RealViewICE is available only if you purchase
and install RealView ICE.
This document assumes that you have installed the host software and firmware for RealView ICE v3.1.
SoC Designer is always listed
in the Connect to Target window. However, you must purchase and
install RealView SoC Designer to create Debug Configurations for SoC
Designer models.
If you have installed a Real Time System Model (RTSM),
no separate Debug Interface is provided. You access the RTSM using
the Instruction Set System Model (ISSM) Debug
Interface.
