7.114 --multibyte_chars, --no_multibyte_chars
Enables and disables processing for multibyte character sequences in comments, string literals, and character constants.
--multibyte_chars is the default, but the option only has
an effect in locales that use multibyte characters.
Multibyte encodings are used for character sets such as the Japanese Shift-Japanese Industrial Standard (Shift-JIS).
NoteIf the source file encoding is UTF-8 or UTF-16, and the file starts with a byte order
mark then the compiler ignores the
--[no_]multibyte_chars options and interprets the file as UTF-8 or
