1.8 Debug hardware adapters supported by DS-5™

Describes the main function of a debug hardware adapter and lists those that are supported by DS-5.

A debug adapter performs the actions requested by the debugger on the target.

For example:

  • Setting breakpoints.
  • Reading from memory.
  • Writing to memory.

The debug adapter is not the application being debugged, nor the debugger itself.

Examples of ARM® debug hardware adapters include:

  • ARM DSTREAM™ unit.
  • ARM RVI™ unit.
  • ARM VSTREAM™ unit.
