QUESTION

I'm using MON51 for debugging my program which contains interrupt service routine for the Timer2 overflow interrupt. Once the interrupt occurs, I lose the serial link with MON51. What might cause this problem?

ANSWER

Are you clearing the overflow bit (TF2) as the first thing you do in the interrupt handler for Timer2? If not cleared at each interrupt incident, the processor will continue to service that interrupt as fast as possible, not leaving time for MON51 to handle the serial interrupt.
