QUESTION

I'm using the uVision simulator and the serial Window to input ASCII characters to my application. When I try to enter ASCII values above 0x7F in the Serial Window using the Alt+<key sequence>, I don't get the right values. How can I enter values above 0x7F in the Serial Window?

ANSWER

To enter ASCII characters above 0x7F in the Serial Window, you must assign the value to the SIN, SIN0, or SIN1 VTREG's using the Command Window. For example:

SIN = 0xA9 ; input value 0xA9 to I/O stream for the UART
