When using uVision to debug target systems using third-party or chip vendor uVision DLLs (for example, Triscend E5 and Cygnal/SiLabs C8051Fxxx), serial data is not displayed in the serial window.
This is correct operation of uVision. The transmitted and received serial data do not appear in the serial window because the serial RX and TX lines from the device are not connected to the PC.
Some third-party debugger DLLs use the PC's COM port to communicate with the target device.
You may use a terminal program like Hyperterminal and monitor the data that is coming out of the microcontroller's serial port.
