I would like to record the trace buffer to a file so that I can view it later. Can this be accomphlished with a uV debugger command?
No specific uV debugger command exists for that log feature. However, the copy to clipboard and find functionality for the Disassembly Window and output has been added in uVision2.30 . The trace buffer is combined with the disassembly window and therefore you can copy to clip board and then save the clipboard to a file using MSWordpad. Use the following procedure;
1) In the debug with simulator mode. 2) View - Dissassembly window 3) View - Debug Toolbar 4) Start from cursur 5) Set breakpoint 6) From Debug Toolbar - Enable Trace Recording 7) From Debug Toolbar - Run (till Breakpoint) 8) From Debug Toolbar - View Trace Recording 9) Move cursor in Disassembly/Trace window and highlight the lines of the Trace buffer to copy. 10) Edit - Copy 11) Start MSWordpad 12) Contol V - to Paste into MSWordpad 13) Save MSWordpad as an ASCII Text file.
The Trace function is still only available in the simulator and not the target level debugger (MON51).
