QUESTION

Can I read the contents of memory with the debugger and write it to a text file?

ANSWER

Yes. To do this, use the LOG command to tell the debugger to write everything displayed in the command window to a text file. For example, to create a file called memdump.log in the project directory, enter the following command in the debugger command window:

log >memdump

Next, use the DISPLAY command to read the data from memory and display it in the command window. For this example, we'll display bytes 1000(hex) to 1100(hex) in extended memory (XDATA).

d x:0x1000,x:0x1100

Then we'll stop writing to the log file.

log off

The memory contents display is available in the text file memdump.log.
