DALLAS DS400 CONTIGUOUS MODE INSTRUCTIONS

Applies to: uVision Debugger

Answer

Information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOM

Program simulation for the Dallas DS80C400 works in compatible mode but fails in contiguous mode. The problems mainly exhibit themselves in that LJMP and LCALL instructions do not jump to the desired target addresses.

CAUSE

The instruction set simulator for the Dallas DS400 device does not correctly simulate the contiguous mode instructions.

RESOLUTION

In the uVision IDE, under Options for Target - Debug - CPU DLL Parameter, change the default parameter of -c400 to -c390. This instructs the simulator to use the Dallas DS390 instruction set simulator (which does correctly simulate the contiguous mode instruction set).

STATUS

This problem will be corrected in the next release of the C51 development tools.
