QUESTION

I am using the uVision Debugger for Cypress EZ-USB FX and EZ-USB FX2 microcontrollers. For the next product I need to use the small package QFN56 of the EZ-USB FX2. This package does not offer the UART interface.

Therefore I would like to put an external off-chip UART peripheral connected with the microcontroller on some GPIOs. Is this possible?

ANSWER

Yes, all Monitor Interface functions are provided in the module INSTALL.A51 that is available in source code. The interface functions are documented in Application Note 152: Installing and Using the Keil Monitor-51.

You may download the attached INSTALL.A51 file which configures the Keil Monitor-51 for the MCBx51 Board. On this board, the UART can be switched between off-chip UART (16550) and on-chip UART.
