My application written for the Dallas Semiconductor DS5250-KIT evaluation board runs fine using the simulator, but when I download and try to debug with the Dallas Semiconductor mon5250snx11.hex or mon5250snx22.hex monitors, the first instruction jumps to a strange address. What is wrong?
The Dallas Semiconductor DS5250 monitor automatically sets up the microcontroller for contiguous mode. Because of this, the microcontroller misinterprets the initial jump address. Here's an easy way to get around this:
?C_STARTUP LABEL NEAR $IF MONITOR LJMP STARTUP1 $ELSE DB 02H ; LJMP in Classic 8051 Mode DW WORD0 STARTUP1 RSEG ?C_C51STARTUP $ENDIF
Now, when you debug using this target, the first instruction will jump to the correct address.
