Why can I only see the core(s) in the RVD "Connect to Target" window when I have more components on my scan chain?

Applies to: RealView Development Suite (RVDS), RealView ICE and Trace (RVI / RVT)

Answer

RVD v4.0.1 supports two views in the "Connect to Target" window; a 'Show Cores' view and a 'Show NonCores' view.  The 'Show Cores' view shows only the cores defined on a target's scan chain.  The 'Show NonCores' view shows all the components on a target's scan chain.  The default view is 'Show Cores'.

If you wish to trace or if you wish to see all the components on a target's scan chain, you can switch to the 'Show NonCores' view by clicking on the 'View' menu in the "Connect to Target" window and selecting 'Show NonCores'.

The below screenshots demonstrate what a target containing a Cortex-R4, an ETM, an ETB, and a TPIU would look like in 'Show Cores' and 'Show NonCores' views and how you switch between the two views.
