Windows installation fails when using substituted path

SYMPTOM

Installation fails on Windows when using a substituted path.

CAUSE

Substituted paths, created for example using the subst.exe tool, are only accessible by the person that creates them. The installer runs under the LocalSystem account and therefore has no access to the substituted paths created by other people.

RESOLUTION

Always run the installer from, and install into, a non-substituted path.
