SYMPTOMS

CAUSE

DS-5 has the following dependencies, some of which might not be installed on your system:

* The libraries marked with an asterisk require an additional 32-bit compatibility library on a 64-bit installation.

The Eclipse Home view requires one of the following libraries to be present:

RESOLUTION

Installation of additional packages is required. Which packages require installation depends on the distribution you are running and the DS-5 you are installing. Attached to this article are the following shell scripts to check for and install any missing dependencies for several common Linux distributions:

DS-5 v5.15

(onwards)

Script Tested OS Version
64-bit ds-deps-fedora_64.sh Fedora 18 64-bit
ds-deps-opensuse_64.sh OpenSuse 12.3 64-bit
ds-deps-rh5_64.sh CentOS 5.9 64-bit
ds-deps-rh6_64.sh CentOS 6.4 64-bit
ds-deps-ubuntu_64.sh Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit
32-bit ds-deps-fedora_32.sh Fedora 18 32 & 64-bit
ds-deps-opensuse_32.sh OpenSuse 12.3 32 & 64-bit
ds-deps-rh5_32.sh CentOS 5.9 32 & 64-bit
ds-deps-rh6_32.sh CentOS 6.4 32 & 64-bit
ds-deps-ubuntu_32.sh Ubuntu 12.04 32 & 64-bit

The script requires root privileges and can be run with a '--no-install' option to only display the result of the dependency check and not actually install any additional packages.

NOTE: The script for CentOS/RedHat 5 does not install the packages necessary to the fix the DS-5 Home view. This is due to Eclipse requiring either webkitgtk-1.0.0 or xulrunner-1.9, neither of which are available in the default repositories of the distribution.
