Does Cortex-M3 or Cortex-M4 provide status information to distinguish between cold and warm reset?

Applies to: Cortex-M3, Cortex-M4

Answer

No. The chip designer would need to provide such functionality outside of the processor if required - for example, by providing a memory-mapped register bit which is cleared on cold reset (PORESETn) but not on warm reset (SYSRESETn), and have the software set this bit during the boot sequence.
