How do I install my node locked license?

Applies to: ARM Developer Suite (ADS), Fast Models, RealView Compilation Tools (RVCT) for BREW, RealView Developer Kit (RVDK) for OKI, RealView Developer Kit (RVDK) for ST, RealView Developer Kit for XScale (RVXDK), RealView Development Suite (RVDS), Tool Licensing (License Management)

First, obtain your license from the ARM web licensing portal.  Save the license file as "license.dat" and place it into "C:\Program Files\ARM" (or wherever you chose to install the tools).

Next, follow the instructions below appropriate for the ARM development tools license that you are installing.

  1. Users of RVDS 2.2 or later

ARM recommends that you use the License Wizard v4.x, installed with your tools, to configure your licenses.  This will configure the ARMLMD_LICENSE_FILE  environment variable.  You can start the License Wizard from the Windows Start menu, for example:  Start -> Programs -> ARM -> License Wizard v4.x.

For details on how to use the ARM License Wizard, refer to section 3.1.1 of the ARM FLEXnet License Management Guide.

  2. Users of older ARM development tools

Create a new, or modify an existing, Windows environment variable called ARMLMD_LICENSE_FILE to point to   C:\Program Files\ARM\license.dat (or the equivalent full path to your license file). In most versions of Windows you can do this via Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Environment Variables.

N.B. It is strictly forbidden to attempt to install seats which have since been replaced by upgrade/update seats. For more details, please see the FAQ: "Do upgrade/update seats replace existing seats?".
