How do I display two memory windows viewing different address locations in RVD?

Applies to: RealView Developer Kit (RVDK) for OKI, RealView Development Suite (RVDS)

Answer

RealView Debugger (RVD) can use workspaces to preserve the memory window view settings you have configured for a particular debug session.

However, if you open two memory windows pointing to separate address locations, the debugger may not always correctly preserve the memory address location pointed to by the second window.

The behaviour is related to the way different areas are designated for panes views in RVD. There are two distinct areas:

  • A vertical pane, normally showing the register window
  • A horizontal pane normally showing 3 different windows (one of which is normally used as a memory view).

If you convert the default register pane to a memory window (rather than using two memory windows in the horizontal pane) then both your memory address locations will be preserved.
