This is a known problem with ADS 1.1 and session files under Windows NT/2000 installations. This is fixed in ADS 1.2.
The session file functionality requires the current user to have "Backup files and directories" and "Restore files and directories" profile privileges enabled. These privileges are not normally given to standard users, they are given to administrators and Backup Operators.
