ARM Technical Support Knowledge Articles

In the ARM720 Technical Reference Manual chapter, it is stated that the write buffer can hold up to 8 words of data and 4 independent addresses. Why is this?

Applies to: ARM720T

Answer

The reason the number of addresses and data are different is that for sequential stores, the write buffer needs only the address of the first word - the address of the remaining sequential items is given simply by adding 4 bytes after each store has completed.
