If BRESP indicates an error, does that mean that none of the transaction's data was written to memory?

Applies to: AXI

Answer

The data behaviour with an error response is not specified and will be slave specific. If an error is received and the software is going to attempt to recover the situation then it is expected that the software will perform the actions required to determine if any of the write burst succeeded. In some case it may be acceptable for the entire write burst to be repeated (as would be the case for a normal memory device), but for other devices it may be necessary to interrogate the device for further information before attempting recovery.
