Can I use RealView Trace on Solaris or Linux?

Applies to: RealView Development Suite (RVDS), RealView ICE and Trace (RVI / RVT)

In order to use the RealView Trace (RVT) trace capture unit, you require a RealView ICE (RVI) run control unit and software as well as an installation of RealView Development Suite.  However, RVT is not supported on Solaris or Linux, so at present you can only use RVT for trace capture and analysis on Windows.  This means that you must have installed the RVI software on Windows, as well as be using RealView Debugger on that platform.

Note that if you do not need to carry out tracing, then you can use RVI for JTAG debugging on Solaris or Linux in the same way as you can on Windows.

NB: In RVDS 4.0 SP3, trace can now be used with RVD running on Linux hosts.
