PL340 has a new cclken signal as part of its AXI C interface. What does this signal do?

Applies to: PL340 AXI SDRAM Controller

Answer

cclken is used to indicate to the AXI C channel logic valid rising edges of the AXI aclk ie which aclk rising edges the PL340 samples csysreq and the PMU samples csysack and cactive. This effectively enables the AXI C channel logic and the externally connected logic, a power management unit of some description to be clocked at a synchronously slower rate than aclk therefore saving power. If no effective dividing down of aclk is required for the AXI C channel then cclken can be tied high.
