Why do I get a 'Configuration item not supported' warning in RVD?

Answer

RealView Debugger (RVD) may report the following warning message when trying to connect to a hardware target using RealViewICE (RVI):

Warning: 0x05050000: Configuration item not supported.

The warning message is triggered by a version mismatch between the current saved RVI configuration file (.rvc), the host-side RVI software version and the RVI firmware on the RVI hardware.

As a result of the above mismatch, you may also see 'General Error' in the Connect to Target window.

To fix this problem, please ensure that:

Your host-side RVI software version matches the version of RVI firmware you are using
You re-configure and save your ARM target configuration using the RVConfig window.
