How do I display Neon instructions in the RVD disassembly view?

Applies to: RealView Development Suite (RVDS)

Answer

If you are connected to a hardware target RVD doesn't display NEON and VFPv3 instructions in the disassembly view by default. Instead it displays the opcodes directly as DCI directives, as shown in the screenshot below. This FAQ shows you how to enable NEON and VFPv3 disassembly.

NEON/VFP Instructions Displayed As DCI

This FAQ assumes that you have connected RVD to your core, and have got as far as viewing NEON and VFP instructions as DCI directives.

  • Make sure you are disconnected from your target.
  • In RVD’s main window choose ‘Target > Connect to Target...’
  • Under the ‘RealView ICE’ heading, right click on your target and select ‘Configure’.
  • Right click on the core component (eg ARM1176JZF-S), and select ‘Properties’.

Device Properties: Enable NEON/VFPv3 Extensions

  • Make sure that the VFP and Neon items are checked. Click OK.
  • Now when you reconnect to your target and load your image, you can see all the NEON and VFP instructions properly, as in the example below.
