When PL301 is rendered, why does it always include an APB slave interface?

Applies to: PL301 AMBA 3 HP Matrix

Answer

The PrimeCell Interconnect (PL301) provides an APB slave interface to enable an APB master to change the arbitration and Quality of Service (QoS) settings during runtime. The PrimeCell High-Performance Matrix (PL301) Technical Summary, ARM DDI 0442, describes the registers that control the arbitration and QoS settings.

You can connect the APB slave interface to either one of the PL301 MasterInterface ports (configured to be an APB master) or to an APB master elsewhere in your system.

If you do not use the APB slave interface then you must tie the inputs to logic '0' and leave the outputs unconnected.
