CREATING MOTOROLA S-RECORD FILES

Applies to: General Topics

Answer

QUESTION

My device programmer only supports the Motorola S-Record file format. How can I convert the HEX files created by the object-HEX converters into S-Record files?

ANSWER

This is a two step process.

  1. Convert the HEX file into a BINARY file using the HEX2BIN utility.
  2. Convert the BINARY file into a Motorola S-Record file using the BIN2MOT utility.

These programs work with Intel HEX, HEX-286, and HEX-386 files and Motorola S-Record S1, S2, S3 files. Run the programs from the DOS prompt to see the directives for each.
