WHAT IS PAGE MODE VERSUS NON-PAGE MODE?

Applies to: C251 C Compiler

Answer

QUESTION

What is page mode versus non-page mode?

ANSWER

Page mode and non-page mode describe the way the 251 accesses the address and data buses.

In non-page mode, the data bus (D0-D7) and the address bus (A0-A7) are multiplexed on port 0. You need a '373 or equivalent connected to port 0 and ALE to latch the address lines.

In page mode, the data bus (D0-D7) and the address bus (A8-A15) are multiplexed on port 2. You need a '373 or equivalent connected to port 2 and ALE to latch the address lines.
