DIFFERENCES BETWEEN C505C AND C515C CAN

Applies to: General Topics

Answer

QUESTION

What are the differences between the CAN controller in the C505C and the C515C?

ANSWER

The only difference between the CAN controllers built-in to these chips is the addresses of the CAN registers.

On the C505C, the CAN registers are always located at XDATA address F700h to F7FFh.

On the C515C, the upper byte of the XDATA address is configurable. So, the CAN registers may reside from F700h to F7FFh (like the C505C) or at any address from xx00h to xxFFh where xx is any value from 00h to FFh.
