QUESTION

I need to import my old uVision V1 project files into uVision V2 or uVision3. How do I do it?

ANSWER

You must have uVision Version 2.02 or later to import a uVision V1 project file. In uVision Version 2.04 or later, follow these steps to import a uVision V1 project file:

  1. Select Import uVision V1 Project... on the Project menu to select and import an old project file.
  2. Create a new project and close any open projects.
  3. After you enter the new project file name, select the device for the target that will be created. Select the desired device from the device database. If you don't know just yet, you may select a generic device from the Generic folder. Generic devices are available for 8051 and C166 derivatives.
  4. After the device is selected, uVision prompts you to select the old project file. Then uVision imports the project file data from the uVision V1 project file.

Once you have imported a project file from a previous software release, you should check the target (assembler, compiler, and linker) options to verify they are correct.
