What's new in RTX166 version 4?

ANSWER

The Version 4 release of RTX166 adds support for the following Infineon microcontroller derivatives:

• C161V/K
• C161O/OR
• C161RI/PI
• C161SI/CI
• C161CS/JC/JI
• C164CI/SI
• C164CL/SL

RTX166 CONFIGURATION

In order to incorporate support for the new derivatives in RTX166, it was necessary to change the setup file (RTXSETUP.H) and the configuration file (RTXCONF.C66). These changes have the following effects:

• The new setup and configuration files are not compatible with older versions of RTX166, and vice-versa.
• The configuration utility does not currently work with the new release, so configuration of RTX166 must be done by manually editing the setup file (RTXSETUP.H). Note that the setup file contains detailed information on how to configure RTX166.

UPDATING EXISTING RTX166 APPLICATIONS

The RTX166 API has not changed so old and new versions are source compatible. To make use of the new version of RTX166 with an existing (legacy) application do the following:

1. Replace the old versions of RTXSETUP.H and RTXCONF.C66 with the new versions.
2. Configure RTX166 (currently, this must be done manually) by editing and making changes to RTXSETUP.H.
3. Rebuild the application, linking with the new RTX166 libraries.

SOURCE CODE

RTX166 is now being release in both binary form (as precompiled libraries) and in source form. The precompiled libraries were built using the Keil C166 v4.01g tool chain. All miscellaneous tools (project files, templates, and so on) required by the library build process are included in the source distribution.

RTX51 COMPATIBILITY

This release does not include support for the RTX51 compatibility, RTX Hooks, or status monitor modules in binary (precompiled) form. However, these source modules are included as unsupported add-ons in the RTX distribution.
